ROC’s 3rd 13000 DWT Duplex SS Chemical Tanker Commences Steel Cutting - Marking Another Step Forward

Language: English España

Recently, ROC completed Steel Cutting for the third 13,000 DWT duplex stainless steel chemical tanker built for Germany's ESSBERGER Group, officially marking the start of construction. This is another milestone in the batch construction of the series and shows that cooperation between ROC and ESSBERGER Group is steadily extending into the international high-end chemical tanker market. The vessel was designed with space reserved for green upgrades, including installation conditions for a methanol fuel power system and a wind-assisted propulsion system. In the future, adopting methanol power is expected to reduce carbon emissions and improve operating economics; installing wind-assisted propulsion devices will allow wind energy to reduce fuel consumption and better meet the shipping market's low-carbon and energy-saving requirements.

The vessel has 18 independent cargo tanks and can simultaneously carry multiple types of chemicals with different characteristics, meeting "one-stop" transport needs. The cargo tanks use duplex stainless steel, which combines corrosion resistance, low-temperature toughness and high strength. They are suitable for carrying high-value-added chemicals such as benzene and alcohols, and can also adapt to navigation in low-temperature sea areas. While ensuring transport safety, the vessel also takes into account loading efficiency and long-term operating economics.

At present, the first two vessels in the series have successively completed key milestones including Steel Cutting and Keel Laying, and the project is progressing smoothly and in an orderly manner. With the Steel Cutting of the third vessel, the series have entered the stage of continuous construction, which is conducive to improving construction efficiency and stabilizing quality control, and also lays the foundation for subsequent batch delivery.

Next, ROC will continue to carry out milestone control and process execution well, steadily advance subsequent construction tasks, and ensure that the series of duplex stainless steel chemical tankers are delivered on schedule and put into global route operation, providing more green and low-carbon new capacity for the international high-end chemical shipping market.
